Lane closures are expected to continue hampering traffic in the city until later this evening, after a water main burst on Barry Drive.
At about 10.30am traffic heading toward the city on Barry Drive at the intersection of Marcus Clarke Street was reduced to two lanes.
Traffic turning right from Barry Drive onto Marcus Clarke Street city bound was reduced to one lane, and traffic at the same intersection leaving the city in the direction of Belconnen was also reduced to one lane.
Warning signs have been erected and TAMS have advised these arrangements are expected to remain in place until after the afternoon peak period.
ACTEW Water have advised water has been shut off to the immediate area, impacting approximately five to six buildings, while the main is repaired.
It was expected that the water would be back on to these buildings between 10am and 11am today.
But at 11.40am the water remained off according to occupants of a nearby building, who reported being forced to walk two blocks to use the bathroom.
