Ever heard of someone running a marathon a day and putting on weight? Throw in a huge amount of soft drink and it's possible.
New York mayor Michael Bloomberg, who wants to ban super-sized soft drinks in the Big Apple, might like to have a chat to Canberra's own adventure man Brad Carron-Arthur, pictured, who recently ran nearly 5000 kilometres up the east coast of Australia.
Carron-Arthur told us he lost five kilograms in the first 11 days of the epic run but put the weight back on and even started getting flabby when he began drinking two to three litres of soft drink a day. He eventually went cold turkey on the habit and reckons his story must have horrified enough people to give soft drink the boot.
