Police are investigating an incident at Canberra's jail which left a prisoner hospitalised with serious injuries.
Lawyers for Amir Reza Abdolali Sarbandi this morning told the ACT Supreme Court their client had been hospitalised after an incident at the Alexander Maconochie Centre.
The man had been due to appear before Justice Hilary Penfold for a directions hearing.
But the court heard Sarbandi was understood to have sustained serious injuries.
The Justice and Community Safety Directorate said an incident occured between two detainees yesterday, which led to one man being taken to the Canberra Hospital.
Police confirmed they are investigating, but declined to comment any further.
