Greater Western Sydney's No.2 draft pick Stephen Coniglio is expected to miss the club's next four AFL games after undergoing thumb surgery.
Coniglio, who has been one of the Giants' best in the opening 10 rounds, had an operation this week to repair tendon damage in his right thumb.
The club says the 18-year-old will miss upcoming games against Richmond, Melbourne, Sydney and Hawthorn.
"We look forward to him making a full recovery and being available to return to the side later next month," said Giants football manager Graeme Allan.
Coniglio is one of four Giants to be nominated for the Rising Star award, and was tipped to take out the honour when the AFL conducted its annual captains' poll at the start of the season.
