Treloar another GWS rising star

August 01, 2012

Greater Western Sydney midfielder Adam Treloar yesterday became the sixth Giant to be nominated for the Rising Star Award, which is an AFL record.

Treloar had 37 possessions in last week's round-18 clash with Collingwood at Sydney Showgrounds, which the Magpies won by 20 goals.

Up against Collingwood star Scott Pendlebury (33 disposals), the former Dandenong Stingray gathered 18 kicks and 19 handballs, grabbing nine marks and kicking a goal.

Treloar, 19, is averaging 19.9 disposals in his 14-game career.

The other five Giants players who have been nominated are Jeremy Cameron, Tomas Bugg, Stephen Coniglio, Dylan Shiel and Toby Greene.

The previous record of five nominations was held by Essendon in 1993 and Fremantle in 1996.

The GWS Giants will play the Melbourne Demons at Manuka Oval on Saturday, August 18. Tickets are available from ticketmaster.com.au.
