The Carss Park mansion of champion boxer Kostya Tszyu and his wife, Natasha, is set for auction next weekend through Mark Kourouche of First National Real Estate Greenacre. Expected to sell for about $3 million, the vast six-bedroom eight-bathroom residence has been renovated and extended since the couple bought it for $785,000 in November 2000.
The Benwerrin Avenue property, which occupies 2400 sqm with two titles, has resort style facilities including a tennis court, a heated saltwater swimming pool and an outdoor entertainment area set in landscaped gardens.
A four-time world Light Welterweight Champion, Tszyu won his first world title in 1995 when he beat IBF Light Welterweight Champion Jake Rodriguez at a fight in Las Vegas, Nevada. Last year, Tszyu was inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame for the Class of 2011.
A view for a move
The actor Rebecca Gibney, who stars in the television series Packed to the Rafters, and her artist husband, Richard Bell, have sold their Clareville home for $1.22 million through Andrew Blake, principal of Andrew Blake Real Estate.
The split-level brick residence, with views across Pittwater to the Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park and the western foreshores, last traded for $1.22 million in March 2009. Set on a 948 sqm block in Hilltop Road, the circa 1980 four-bedroom house had been on the market since last October when it was listed with price expectations of $1.3 million.
Sporting a bigger abode
The Maroubra home of Channel Nine sports identity, Tim Gilbert, and his wife, Josie, sold for $1.16 million before its auction scheduled for last weekend through Raylean Ellison of Ellison Zulian Property. Since the property last traded for $841,000 in July 2005, the four-bedroom house has been renovated with new bathrooms and a Caesarstone kitchen.
The free-standing two-storey residence stands on a 296 sqm block in Manwaring Avenue, close to Maroubra Beach. Since 1996, Gilbert has worked at Nine as sports reporter, presenter and producer on feature stories for The Cricket Show and the Sunday Footy Show, other flagship sports programs and live broadcasts.
The Gilberts intend moving to a larger home with their two toddlers and newborn son.
The stage for business
A Paddington terrace owned by publicist and marketing consultant Bruce Pollack passed in on a vendor bid of $740,000 at auction last weekend through Nic Krasnostein and Ivan Bresic of BresicWhitney.
When the property was listed in May, its price hopes were more than $800,000. Now listed for sale at $780,000, the Victoria Street property has been the headquarters for Pollock's publicity business since he bought it for $425,000 in August 2001.
The two-storey terrace house could be retained as office space or converted back to a two-bedroom home. Pollack's company, Pollack Consulting, has implemented publicity campaigns for shows including Jersey Boys, A Chorus Line and The Addams Family.
River living
Records reveal the Lilli Pilli home of former NSW rugby league coach Terry Fearnley sold for $1.34 million last month. The four-bedroom four-bathroom residence stands on a 1322 sqm block with a swimming pool and views across Port Hacking River.
