Russell Crowe has reportedly signed on to make his feature film directorial debut.
The Australian actor will make a biopic about the life of the late US comedian Bill Hicks, according to reports.
Crowe has teamed up with old schoolmate Mark Staufer, who has written the script, says the Sunday Telegraph.
"Bill Hicks' life is tragically short, but spectacularly interesting," Staufer told the newspaper.
"The screenplay has gone through a number of drafts and we'll go into production early next year," he said.
Hicks, who was known for his dark humour, died of pancreatic cancer in 1994. He was 32.
Crowe is currently in Iceland filming biblical epic Noah.
