SCOTT VINCENT AND SAMANTHA FAWCETT
KATATHANI RESORT, PHUKET, THAILAND
Samantha and Scott met in Canberra while he was there for a training course at the National Audit Office. "Romantic," says Samantha. "Our first date was on Budget night!! Scott's pick-up line was 'So, what's there to do on budget night?'" But it clearly worked - they had a long distance relationship for eight months before Samantha moved to Sydney.
Scott and Samantha were out for breakfast on King St in Newtown when Scott quickly concocted a story to return to their house and prepare it for the proposal. He rushed home with a bouquet of chocolate dipped strawberries and placed it in the fridge with a card and returned to breakfast. Scott proposed when they returned home at lunchtime.
The wedding day
They had decided they wanted a destination wedding and it wasn't hard to decide on Thailand. Samantha had been there on exchange in 1998 and has worked there so she can speak Thai. They had 72 guests attend the wedding by the Andaman sea at the Katathani Resort in Phuket. They wanted a casual garden style wedding - they chose lime green and white as their colours and had celebrated with dancing under the stars by the beach. Another highlight was the afterparty, "at a local bar with a Thai classic rock band with Samantha on stage singing Thai pop songs til 4am," says Scott.
Samantha wore an ivory, strapless, Carla Zampatti gown with a crumb catcher neck and a sash around the waist.
The cake had three tiers decorated with lime green icing and a white Katathani pattern which was a theme throughout the reception.
The photos were taken by Nid from Phuket Memorial.
They to the Middle East, travelling overland from Egypt to Turkey.
