Brumby Auelua suffers hamstring injury

By Chris Dutton June 24, 2012

ACT BRUMBIES wrecking ball Fotu Auelua is in danger of missing his team's crucial clash with the Western Force on Saturday after he injured his hamstring playing for Wests yesterday.

Auelua lasted just five minutes in the John I Dent Cup match before he was forced from the field.

He was using the clash with Queanbeyan to increase his match fitness in preparation for the Super Rugby resumption after a three-week competition break.

But it ended in heartbreak when he barged over for a try in the fifth minute and felt his hamstring tighten.

If he is unable to play, it will be a massive blow for the Brumbies' finals hopes with just three games remaining in the regular season.

Auelua has been a star since breaking into the Brumbies' starting side mid-way through the season.

Should he be ruled out, Ita Vaea showed he's ready to be recalled after a terrorising performance for Gungahlin.

Vaea was brutal in attack and defence for Gungahlin at Nicholls Oval yesterday.
